A looting scene played out on a busy Kroonstad N1 road today, where a truck carrying a load of apples and pears overturned outside the road.
In a picture that went viral on social media, people could be seen making off with fruits.
Looters have been stopped by police officers of Public Order Policing after feeding themselves with apples and pears of the fallen truck.
According to Lejweleputswa spokesperson, captain Stephen Thakeng, the truck driver lost control of the truck and overturned in the N1 road towards Kroonstad direction.
“In order to deal with the situation, one lane is used to control the flow of traffic,” said Thakeng.
“Nobody has been arrested and Provincial Traffic and POP were there to ensure law and order was maintained,” added Thakeng.
Thakeng urged motorists to reduce speed when approaching Ventersburg as authorities are monitoring traffic.
