With the Free State province rated as the top performing province when it comes to climbing the ranks with its pre-eminent results in schools, MEC for education Tate Makgoe says teachers needs to be bestowed for their stellar work.
The department will tomorrow, September 7, officiate the National Teachers Awards (NTA), where teachers from public schools across the province will be conferred with accolades.
MEC Makgoe says annually, the department hosts the NTA awards and the Service Excellence Awards to acknowledge and recognise the outstanding contribution made by social partners in improving the quality of learning and teaching in the province.
“The awards give us an opportunity to recognise the incredible work done by our teachers in schools, more especially in public facilities where majority of learners come from disadvantaged backgrounds,” Makgoe says.
Makgoe reiterated that as the department, they are proud of the work educators have done over the past years, this is in relation with province’ dominance in matric results where, Free State has been sitting on top for the past three years.
He went on to add that, the province has set their mark in the country. He further urged upcoming matriculants to who set the record higher, and all this requires the teachers’ guidance to claim fourth victory in this year’s matric results.
To celebrate the achievements of outstanding teachers in the province, the department will announce winners virtually through Microsoft Teams’ online platform.
