When asked how ISINQUMO SAMI came about, Sibusiso said it was motivated by a task he was given at work.
“The reason why I wrote the ISINQUMO SAMI drama series, is because I was given a task at work to collect data from different universities around South Africa from students who are Christians for our cooperate project, I went to Wits, Vaal, UJ, PE, TUKS, UCT to name a few.
“I had deep social conversations with students and they opened up to me, I discovered that most of the challenges that they come across have to do with decision making because some contracted HIV, some are slay queens, some participate in bribery and corruption, some are breadwinners and some are struggling with career choices, they have no one to share these stories with,” Sibusiso said.
“I was the first guy to give an ear and I appreciated them more, so I thought my goal is to create content that connects me with viewers, let me create a drama series around these guys experience in order to teach fellow students at university and the ones coming to campus who are in matric,” he added.
He also added: “The show is called ISINQUMO SAMI meaning my decision in English, our characters made wrong decisions some survived other did not hence one of them dies.”
As a Christian Sibusiso’s purpose is to use the media as an effective catalyst to impact communities emotionally, educationally and to transform the mind and offer hope and inspiration.
He is a public servant contributing to sustaining and growing the creative economy in Africa for a global impact.
