Scores of mourners from all walks of life will on Sunday turn up to pay their last respects to the fallen FIFA assistant referee Moeketsi “Max” Molelekoa.
Molelekoa, who passed away in a horrific car accident last month in January, will be laid to rest on this coming Sunday, February 5 and the funeral service will be at the Kaizer Sebothelo Stadium.
He lost his life in a head-on-collision between his car and a bus in his hometown of Botshabelo in the Free State.

“It is with profound sadness that I learned of the passing-on of Mr. Molelekoa Moeketsi. He was an outstanding international Assistant Referee who had been invited to the upcoming TotalEnergies U20 Africa Cup of Nations Egypt 2023,” the CAF President said.
“Our deepest condolences to his family, friends, colleagues and the entire South African Football Family.”
The 31-year-old cut his teeth in refereeing at a local football league before he was promoted to SAB and ABC Motsepe Leagues, and later the Premier Soccer League in 2014.
His first international match was the African Cup of Nations qualifier between Zambia and Algeria in March 2021.
