Here’s how Matshepo Kubeka, a resilient entrepreneur ventured into business after Nsfas ditched her!

While thousands of students are financially excluded from furthering their studies due to the National Student Financial Aid Scheme’s N+ rule, under privileged students are oftentimes left stranded and end-up suffering from immense stress.

For the 22-year-old Matshepo Kubeka, she has climbed to the high hills and defeated all odds, as she opted to venture her talent into a fast growing hair salon.

The goal-driven Kubeka, has solely proven that challenges in the world exist, but what makes the universe strong, it is the spirit of resilience and channel the mind to be innovative.

Kubeka is one of those N+ wrongful affected student by the NSFAS system, this means she currently do not have funding and she qualifies to be funded.

But the fact is, despite this setback, life goes on; we need to buy food and pay rent.

The University of the Free State student told Kasi Voice News that she do people’s hair in order to earn an income.

“Doing hair has always been one exciting thing for me to do, it’s my art and talent,” she said.

The Ficksburg-born entrepreneur highlighted that bubbles_beaut, her business of doing knotless braid was inspired by not having funding.

“This year I ended up not having funding for my last academic year due to being wrongfully affected by N+1 rule and this is what inspired me to start a business and make a living out of it because I have no financial support from home,” she added.

Matshepo mentioned that with the money that she makes from her business, she’s able to do basic necessities that are inclusive of; rent, food, toiletries, transport and electricity.

She further highlighted that the main challenge is time, as she could sometimes have to prioritize academics over business.

Another challenge is her business exposure, her business is not exposed to her target areas and groups.

“I deliver the most neat and flawless knotless braids and would highly appreciate the support,” she concluded.
