ActionSA has terminated eThekwini councillor and former KZN chairperson Makhosi Khoza’s membership with immediate effect post a disciplinary hearing.
The party said Khoza, brought the party into “disrepute” for acting in a manner that caused disunity in the structures of the party.
In a released media statement, the green party said the decision to expel Khoza, root out from the recommendations of its ethics and disciplinary committee at a meeting held on Monday evening.
“A disciplinary panel was convened. The Ethics and Disciplinary Committee was unanimous in finding Dr Khoza guilty on all charges in recommending the termination of her membership,” said ActionSA’s national spokesperson Lerato Ngobeni.
“The evidence brought against Dr Khoza included numerous public utterances and comments made to the media which were deemed to have been made with intention of bringing ActionSA into disrepute,” added Ngobeni.
The one-year-old party also accused Khoza of meddling with “ringleaders” of the then lobby group from Soweto, who had raised concerns about the party’s Johannesburg PR list and calling for the party leader, Herman Mashaba to resign.
The embattled Khoza was once a member of the ANC and left the party in 2017, where she later joined the Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse (OUTA) before joining the ActionSA ship last year.
Following the release of the statement, Khoza responded by saying the statement is riddled with misrepresentations.
“The statement issued is full of misrepresentations of the deliberations of the ActionSA’s Ethics and Disciplinary Committee. I never joined ActionSA on a media platform. It stands to reason that my termination of membership cannot happen on same.” she wrote on her Facebook account.
