EFF heads to Mangaung for 9th birthday celebrations

The left-wing opposition party will commemorate their annual anniversary celebrations at the Dr Petrus Rantlai Molemela Stadium in Mangaung next month.

Economic Freedom Fighters will mark their ninth birthday since the party was launched in 2013, as a breakaway party from the African National Congress (ANC).

The third-largest party from both legislatures, National Parliament and the National Council of Provinces (NCOP), says it is all systems to go for their upcoming historic celebration on July 30.

In a tweet shared by the EFF, leader of the party Julius Malema will address the attendees at the event.

The event will likely see EFF leaders descend on the province ahead of the main event on the day of celebrations.

The EFF’s upcoming birthday celebrations follows a victorious 2021 municipal elections, where the party has made it tough for the governing party, ANC, to have a strong hold of governance in major metropolitan cities.

The EFF shared their votes with opposition parties to form a coalition government to unseat the ANC in key metros such as Johannesburg, Ekurhuleni and Tshwane.

Meanwhile today, the party’s top bigwigs, national chairperson Veronica Mente, treasury general Omphile Maotwe and deputy secretary general Mailoa Poppy, are in solidarity with the Gardee Family at the Nelspruit Magistrate Court.

One of the accused in the gruesome murder, Hillary Gardee has applied for bail.
