As violence and looting continued in parts of KwaZulu-Natal on the eve of Sunday night, Durban Metro Police officers were seen taking part in looting.

While former president Jacob Zuma is serving 15 months in jail at the Estcourt Correctional Centre for contempt of court, those claiming to be his supporters and demanding his release unleashed havoc on the streets of Kwazulu-Natal and surrounding areas, instigating social unrest and bringing the province to its knees.

The video that went viral on Social Media, law enforcement officers were seen loading the mini bus with cooler boxes and beverages.

Pietermaritzburg High Court staff members have been warned not to come to work on Monday due to the violent protests taking place in the city.

In a statement on Monday, the Office of the Chief Justice said: ’’Due to the current protest action in the Province, there is insufficient personnel at the court. The General Office (Annexed Building) will therefore be closed on the 12th July, 2021.’’

On Monday, President Cyril Ramaphosa addressed the nation that those behind the violent protests and anarchy would be arrested and prosecuted.
