Shakes Mnanzana’s untimely death, aged only 44, has left an unbearable pain in the football fraternity, most particularly in his home town of Welkom, as he flagged as a prominent soccer star during his playing days.
‘Mshekesheke‘ as he was fondly known , has left many in limbo as the majority of those who lived with him and inspired by his fanatic skills in the field of play are still reeling in shock.
The soccer star passed away in the early hours of today, after short illness.
Following his death, close friends, his playmates, and community members came to offer their condolences to the family at his home, while those who spent most of their time with the legendary star took to social media platforms to recall memories and expressed their deepest condolences.
Those who knew Mshekesheke‘ have described his death as a great loss to the soccer fraternity.

It’s heartbreaking to learn about the unfortunate passing of our township brother, who was loved for his talent and beautiful soul. Everything that he has done for the beautiful game of football is unmeasurable and it shall be engraved in our memories forever. He was a stellar baller, a genius, a magician and a complete footballer.
