The 16-year-old Mamello Malejoane went missing on Monday, 24 January 2022 and her mother reported her missing to Maokeng police on Tuesday, 08 February 2022.
According to the police spokesperson, Captain Malebo Khosana, the missing girl’s mother last saw her daughter at around 06:30 the morning she disappeared. Furthermore, the mother also gave Mamello R10 she requested to buy fat cakes.
Mamello then left her home in Marabastad and never returned to this day.
She is light in complexion and wore short black tights with a blue and white stripped shirt when she disappeared. She also wore yellow and white push-ins.
“The mother said she looked and enquired for her daughter, but was unsuccessful in her venture,” stated captain Khosana.
According to Mamello’s friends, she never made it to school and have also not heard from her.
The 16-year-old’s mother informed that she delayed reporting the matter because she hoped her daughter would turn up. She further stated Mamello had previously disappeared and returned home safely after a week.
Mamello’s mother pointed out that her request for police help was the result of a two-week disappearance by her daughter.
Police registered a missing person’s file and detective constable Nthabiseng Sephooa continued the search but did not find the teenage girl. The search is still underway and the community is requested to assist find Mamello Malejoane.
