Preparations are underway as two titans of the football game in the South African football history are set to clash once more as Siwelele legends of Bloemfontein Celtic prepare to lock horns with the iconic Amakhosi legends of Kaizer Chiefs.
The much-awaited and anticipated Toyota Cup showdown is earmarked to reignite the fervor and nostalgia that both teams have long ignited in their passionate fan bases.
Chiefs’ Legends team to be spearheaded by their legendary midfielder maestro, Thabo “Tsiki-Tsiki‘ Mooki will face the green and white outfit, Celtic in the Toyota Cup on July 28.
This match will take place at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein, as a curtain-raiser to the pre-season friendly between Amakhosi and Tanzanian club Young Africans.
Chiefs legends coach Mooki has roped in several new players for the fans, and he feels the team will put on a spectacle for the fans, “we always try to have new players travel with us this time around we welcome Brian Baloyi, Willard Katsande, Jabu Mahlangu, Stanton Fredericks, Cyril Nzama, Thuso Phala, Josta Dladla and Bernard Parker among others,” he said.
On the other hand, Celtic legend, Thabo Nthethe, who played for Celtic for over a decade between 2004-2014 says on their side, they have a well-balanced team and they are pleased to have fan favourites legends that will feature in this match.
Without mentioning the entire squad, as Nthethe says this will be a surprise to the fans, he called names such as of Moses Spandeel, Timothy Batabaire, James Madidilane,Letladi Madubanya, John Maduka and also former Chiefs stars Gert Schalkwyk, Siyabonga Nkosi and Eric Mathoho.
“We are pleased to feature in a place where once again our fans get to interact with the team, we know games against Chiefs are always entertaining and we expect this one to keep to the script,” Nthethe told Kasi Voice News.
While Celtic is yet to announce their squad at a later stage, Chiefs have lined up their best squad ahead of this upcoming tournament.
