The energy provider, Eskom has escalated the on-going loadshedding to Stage 4, after more units at two of its power stations in Mpumalanga tripped overnight.
“Regretfully, Eskom just been forced to implement Stage 4 load-shedding at 07:20 following Majuba Unit 5 and Tutuka Unit 4 tripping,” Eskom, said in a statement on Tuesday.
South Africa’s embattled power utility brought back blackouts yesterday, just after Easter holidays.
This follows rotational blackouts, which emerged from last week on Monday, after unites at Medupi tripped, as a result of a steam air heater leak.
Eskom’s CEO Andre de Ruyter will this morning brief the country on the state of the powercuts at 10am.
