On Thursday, the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) has been summoned by the Labour Court in Johannesburg, to reinstate the television news anchor Palesa Chubisi back to her job at the public broadcaster.
Chubisi who was amongst the 600 employees axed by the SABC amid the retrenchments process, the court declared that her dismissal was unlawful.
The court has further ordered the embattled public broadcaster to pay for her legal costs. Chubisi’s lawyer, Advocate William Mkhari, welcomed the court’s ruling, and stated that the SABC has to reinstate his client with immediate effect.
