As Eskom is set to hold a media briefing today to give an update on the power utility’s stance on the implemented load shedding since yesterday afternoon, Eskom has now announced load shedding will be extended until Saturday morning.
The power utility said that unit failures were coupled with other unnamed tripped units over the past weekend, and this has led to the immediate implementation of the load shedding which will occur throughout the week until weekend.
Yesterday, Eskom said South Africans should expect electricity outages until Wednesday after Unit 3 broke down at the Medupi power station.
With recent updates from Tuesday morning, the power utility has with effect amended its outage schedule.
