Lesedi FM is shaking up the booth to boost their dwindling listenership, with big names set to join the station from April.
It’s been many years, where listeners long-heard the charismatic, charming and vibrant voice of Mosikili Bothata, who made his name very big on the SABC radio station Lesedi FM.
Bothata left the station in 2012, after he was allegedly pushed out and punished after being asked by the SABC to interpret in the power mix internal case.
At that time, he sued the SABC for damages of R447 000 as a result of breach of his contract which was terminated for misconduct.
The SABC did indicate that the radio personality did not adhere to the program plan and made things without following proper channels.
Sources at the Free State-based station revealed that news of Bothata’s return has been kept under the carpet as the station’s top management is still on a quarrel spree over his come back.
Another well renowned names mentioned to be taking over the microphone at Sesotho’s dominating radio station are of Lesedi FM’s sister radio, Metro FM presenter Rorisang Thandekiso and ex-Motheo radio host Mannehileng Letuka.
Thandekiso is set to co-host Monate Breakfast show alongside Seipati “Twasa” Seoke, while Nyakallo “Ba2cada” Leine will be shifted to his renowned Local Top 30 show on Saturdays.
Details surrounding Ba2cada’s stand on Monate Breakfast show are still sketchy as the management has to make a decision on how the multi-award winning radio personality will contribute into the morning drive show.
The SABC’s group executive for corporate affairs and marketing, Gugu Ntuli, said: “Lesedi FM management will announce the station’s line-up in due course.”
