The Springboks are set to make their return to Test rugby in Bloemfontein this year, marking their first appearance since their defeat against Wales in 2022 with a score of 13-12.
This upcoming event holds great significance as the world champions will be facing Portugal for the very first time in the Test arena. Scheduled for Saturday, 20 July, this match will follow the two Test series against Ireland, which will be held at Loftus Versfeld and King’s Park.
Bloemfontein has been confirmed as the venue when the Springboks face Portugal in the historic first Test between the two nations.
“We feel incredibly honoured to host the Test match between the Springboks and Portugal at Toyota Stadium on 20 July 2024. Welcoming the World Cup winners to Bloemfontein is a source of great excitement. We look forward to showcasing their skills to our enthusiastic supporters,” said Ross van Reenen, CEO of the Free State Cheetahs.
“The upcoming Test promises thrilling rugby action and substantial boost for the local community and hospitality industry. We extent our gratitude for this valuable opportunity presented to us by SA Rugby ” Ross added.
Ticketing details for all six Test are being finalised and will be announced soon, but supporters are warned to only buy from official outlets.
