Zamdela: Fezile Dabi District’s women in blue converged in Zamdela for a women’s operation coined ‘Tracing Operation Basadi’ and successfully made arrests of over five suspects for associated crimes.
The occasion took place on Thursday, 26 August 2021.
SAPS women exchanged their formal office attire and uniform with jeans and tekkies to be ready to tackle criminals during the tracing operations and other policing activities.

They were focusing on tracing suspects of the new and old cases executing warrants of arrests.
Among the arrested, was a female nabbed for assault case.
Another male was arrested for possession of drugs while another one is in custody for assault with intention to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH).
The fifth male suspect was arrested for rape. He will appear at Sasolburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 30 August 2021, whereas the four has already appeared before magistrate.
Operationally SAPS members went on to conduct foot patrols on the streets stopping and searching for any illegal substances.
According to the Operation Commander on the ground, police members even visited a dumping site where some suspects might hide from the law.
“The Operation was a success as they covered more ground in stamping authority of the state as women,” addressed Acting District Commissioner Brigadier Mapulane Mbeloane.
She asserted that they have achieved their purpose after searching about 15 residential premises, 149 persons and visit to a dumping area to ensure that it is safe and crime free.
Acting District Commissioner Brigadier Mapulane Mbeloane lauded the women in blue for displaying courage to enforce law and order in our communities. “This is an indication that we have women who can roll up the sleeves and carry out the SAPS Mandate,” concluded Brig Mbeloane.
