President Ramaphosa casts his vote in Gauteng

President Cyril Ramaphosa is that latest, and biggest name to cast his vote in the 2021 municipal elections, in his place of birth, Chiawelo on the eve of Monday morning.

The ANC leader made his mark at Hitekani Primary School and walking by his side, the President was accompanied by Gauteng Premier David Makhura and Johannesburg mayor Mpho Moerane.

Ramaphosa decided against foregoing the queue and instead waited his turn to make his mark.

In the 2016 local elections, the governing party lost three major metros, with Nelson Mandela Bay Metro in Eastern Cape and in Gauteng – City of Joburg and Tshwane.

Ramaphosa’s vote castings in Soweto, follows antagonistic campaign trails he held to canvass voters to bid for the ANC.

Speaking after casting his vote, President Ramaphosa assured residents that the ANC will work on their mistakes.

“We want to correct what has gone wrong in the past, we working around the clock to address these issues,” said Ramaphosa.

Reception from various municipalities, was filled with infuriated residents, who presented their concerning grievances through placards.

During the ANC’s election campaigns, In Nomzamo informal settlement, South-west of Johannesburg and Orange Farm, things got out of hand, as residents were up in arms, as they showed the President a middle finger for failure to tackle their burning issues.

Residents in respective areas alluded that they would not vote if their demands are not met. Both areas are in the pits of darkness and ailing infrastructure.

Ramaphosa said that the ANC lost ground due to self-inflicted blunders in their previous municipal elections, with confidence the party’s President reaffirmed that the ANC will emerge victorious in these elections.
