A 30-year-old man who brutally chopped his mother’s body into pieces appeared before the Phuthaditjhaba Magistrate Court yesterday, June 10 facing charges of murder and attempted murder.
The alleged killer, Teboho Mokoena, was arrested on Wednesday, June 8, after he butchered his mother, Modiehi Mokoena aged 65-years-old, whom her body was found with the head and legs cut off.
The suspect was found and arrested while hiding on top of the tree inside the school yard in Riverside.
It is alleged that the suspect also attempted to murder his father Motsumi Mokoena.
“On Tuesday 07 May 2022 at about 09:00 the police responded to a murder complain and found human body parts that have been cut into pieces inside the garage at Riverside,” said Free State police spokesperson Brigadier Motansi Makhele.
Makhele said during the fateful day, the husband of the deceased arrived home and found his son inside the garage packing the remains of his mother inside the plastic bag.
“When he inquired about what was happening the son took out a knife and stabbed him on the chest then he ran away” Makhele detailed.
The suspect is remanded in custody till June 21 for formal bail application.
