Thabong- Central University of Technology (CUT) students are grouchy over mismanagement of funds as over 2 600 were not funded for the 2021 academic year.
The CUT’s Student Representative Council stressed that the university is failing to process registrations forms and academic records on time.
“The issue of student registration forms and academic results not being submitted by the university has been an ongoing issue as most students’ information was last submitted when they were doing their first year,” SRC said in a statement.
“Currently, the university is giving allowances only to students they claim are being funded by NSFAS,” statement further read.
The SRC proclaimed that some students opted to do a follow up on their funding, but nothing worthy came as a response to their query.
“Even after these claims are being made numerous times by the administration, there are no improvements,” SRC accentuated.
The SRC continued to say, “If they want war, they must declare it.”
Several students raised concerns that the university delays in dispatching funds on time, and at some point, they have have to flock out their money to prioritize their tuition fees.
Despite tuition fees backlog, another worry for students lies with slight challenges of having to pay for their accommodations.
The SRC supported the implementation of Fundi as it was being introduced in 2020, and also kept on ensuring that the third party pays allowances.
