House robbery thugs busted ‘red-handed’ while looting!

A speedy reaction by the Welkom police to attend to an instant call led to the arrest of three foreign nationals for house breaking on Thursday evening.

According to the issued media release, it is alleged that three burglars were on mission to walkaway with electrical appliances at one of the household in Rheederpark, Welkom, when the police came to rescue.

“At bout 02:00 members of Welkom POP Reaction Team followed up this information and were informed that suspects have loaded stolen items inside a sedan vehicle,” a statement read.

“The get away car was followed up until to a house in Matsie street, Las Vegas, Thabong and members kept an observation to a nearby.

“The suspects arrived at 05:00 with a silver grey Toyota Corolla with Free State number plates.

“When the driver was busy opening the gate, members pounced on them and requested to search the vehicle with two African men still inside the vehicle. Permission was granted. T

“The two inside were requested to come out of the vehicle so that a thorough search can be conducted,” statement further read.

It is alleged that while the police were searching, these electrical items were discovered: Two JVC sound system speakers, two 42 inch Samsung Plasma tv sets, one 50 inch LG plasma tv, Dstv decorder, one Dstv Explorer, remote controls and one Sony play station.

Furthermore, the police made a discovery of: one bolt cutter, one bobbejaan spanner, three screw drivers, two wheel spanners, seven spanners with different sizes, one sharp nose player, two bag packs with home appliances.

The suspects aged 39, 42 and 52 years old were arrested on scene.

They are facing charges of being in possession of suspected stolen items, possession of house breaking implements.

The statement entailed that they will appear before the Welkom Magistrate Court.

“We regard this as a break- through, thanks to residents of Welkom who are sick and tired of criminal acts. This Festive Season we continue to squeeze the space for all criminals,” read the statement issued.
