Matjhabeng Municipality employee released on warning after damaging truck’s tyre

Matjhabeng Municipality received a complaint on social media about a driver who damaged compactor truck’s tyre with an unknown object.

SAPS spokesperson captain Stephen Thakeng told Kasi Voice News, “Malicious damage to property case has been registered for further investigation.”

The incident trended over social media.

Matjhabeng Municipality personnel handed the 46-year-old accused to Virginia SAPS. Police arrested him on Thursday, 19 November 2021 and charged him with malicious damaged to property.

Damage to this property amounted to R9 000.

“Apparently, the accused, Thabo Anthony Halahala damaged an Isuzu compactor truck’s tyre with Free State and Matjhabeng Municipality printing.” added Captain Thakeng.

The driver reported to his supervisor later on Wednesday, 18 November 2021, that he had flat tyres on the truck he was driving.

The 46-year-old driver appeared before Virginia Magistrates Court on Monday, 22 November 2021.

The court released him on a warning, and the case will continue on 13 December 2021 for further investigation.
