Four suspects arrested for dealing in dagga

Maokeng SAPS team arrested four suspects for dagga and drugs during a ‘Safer Festive Season’ operation on Friday, 12 November 2021.

Captain Daniel Motsoeneng and CPF Chairperson Fr Kholisile Ngcola led the operation.

The operation emanated as answer to the plight of the community members aired during community meetings about drug dealers in Maokeng.

Arrested suspects comprise of three males and one female. Their arrests took place in Phomolong and Marabastad respectively.

This major hit started at Phomolong when officers found two males packing dagga. They arrested them on the spot and seized their dagga.

Furthermore, police approached the house’s backroom found to be rented to a Lesotho national.

They found a man and a bag of dagga during their search, which they seized.

This man was also arrested.

Before their departure, members also searched a Volkswagen Polo belonging to one of the suspects. They found dagga and money in the boot and seized them.

Dagga found in the main house had an estimated street value of R8 782 including a sizeable amount of cash. Meanwhile, dagga seized from the rented room with worthed R2 044 plus additional cash.

Suspect arrested from the rented backroom is an undocumented Lesotho national. He will therefore have an additional charge of illegal immigration in line with Immigration Act.

Trio males are aged 18, 19 and 37.

The second bust occurred in Marabastad when members found a female (33) in possession of substances believed to be crystal meth; dagga; mandrax tablets; and cash.

Police also arrested her for drug dealing.

Further investigation revealed that all seized drugs had an estimated street value of R1 630 excluding hard cash confiscated.
