Man arrested with copper cable rolls on roadblock

Brandfort Station Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Taole Zengele, led a road block between Brandfort and Glen on R30 road on Friday, 12 November 2021.

Involved members included Brandfort, Theunissen and Provincial Traffic Department.

The road block’s focus was on enforcing the law on unroadworthy vehicles; unlicsensed firearms; stock theft; stolen properties; and illegal immigrants.

During the operation, Sergeant Padi Motaung stopped a silver-grey double cab Toyota Hilux with GP registration numbers.

He requested permission to search the vehicle and found a copper cable roll overed with a blanket at the rear seat. He found another copper cable in the bakkie’s trunk.

The driver could not provide documents for possession of this large quantity of copper cable.

Police arrested the 59-year-old man for possession of suspected stolen copper cable. He will appear before Brandfort Magistrate Court on Monday, 15 November 2021.

Lejweleputswa District Commissioner, Major General Lerato Molale, applauded the joint operation that led to the arrest and seizure of copper cable.
