Welkom police are looking for a Nigerian national after he allegedly raped a teenage girl inside a taxi on Saturday, 13 February 2021.
A 19-year-old girl alleges she was in town near Liberty Centre when she boarded a white Toyota Tazz taxi to Thabong.
According to her, the taxi had four men inside, three of them being Nigerians.
After passing Manny’s Taxi Rank, one of the men allegedly instructed her to wear a balaclava, but she refused. He then pointed her with a firearm.
Taxi driver allegedly stopped the vehicle and the man forcefully undressed the girl, pushed her down on the seat and raped her twice.
They then dropped her off at the taxi rank and drove off.
The matter was reported to the police and a case of rape was registered for further investigation.
Police compiled identikits of two suspects.
Suspect one: medium in completion, slender build, 1,7m tall with long black dreadlocks and beard on the cheek. He was wearing a black jersey, blue jeans and tekkies.
Suspect two is dark in complexion, slender, 1.8 height with sideburns and short hair. He was wearing a black leather jacket, a pair of blue jeans and black formal shoes.
Suspects were speaking English and Southern Sesotho.
Anyone with information that can assist with the case is requested to come forward.
