Police hunt suspects after 18-motor-gates stolen in Welkom!

The Welkom police have initiated manhunt following theft of 18 motor gates in Naudeville, Welkom.

According to police spokesperson Stephen Thakeng, the incident took placeon Thursday night, 23 September 2021.

He says suspects ran away with ten motor gates in just a period of one night.

He also alleged that in separate incidents, the suspects fled with eight motor gates in Jan Cillierspark.

There was also a failed attempt to steal the ninth motor gate in one of nearby houses.

“A case of motor gates theft is currently under police investigation,” Thakeng addressed.

He further adds: “Crime Intelligence also came in place to gather more information in this regard.”

Captain Thakeng, said that for anyone with information with the whereabouts of these suspects can contact Lieutenant Colonel Goly Ngubeni, Acting Detective Commander of Welkom Detective Services on: 0714118321 or Police Emergency number: 0860010111.

Lejweleputswa District Commissioner, Major General Lerato Molale says he is concerned over these incidents, and he pleads with members of society to assist the law enforcement.

“Residents are hereby notified to refrain from buying stolen items, which includes motor gates.

“We will never rest until all perpetrators of these crimes are brought to book to face the might of the law,” says Major General Molale.
