CHAMPIONS! Mangaung United FC hammer D’General FC to clinch provincial play-offs victory

The caterpillars of the city of Roses, Mangaung United F.C, were crowned champions of the Free State 2020/21 ABC Motsepe League, after ending high-spirited dreams of D’General F.C of reaching the excessive national playoffs in bid to proceed to the competitive Glad Africa League.  

The Bloemfontein-based side Mangaung Unite FC, reigned supreme in their encounter as they squashed the Botshabelo-side, D’General F.C 2-1, on Sunday, 30 May 2021 at Loubcher Park, Kroonstad.

Two goals scored by Semonye and Hloni, led to the victory of the Red and White side to dine well in the play offs to the national second division of the Premier Soccer League.   

The on-fire Mangaung United F.C secured two goals in the bag on the first half of the match, in the last minutes of the game, D’General F.C scooped an equalizing goal, however that could not make an effect, as the light dimmed for the “Tse ntswembu’tseblaent boys” side.

The encounter determined the overall provincial champion of the third-tier ABC Motsepe League, after both sides snatched the Stream A and Stream B respectively.

Mangaung United will join other winners from various provinces to find their chance in playing for the national second division league.
